Meet our August Athlete of the Month, Ryan London! Ryan started doing personal training with our fabulous coach, Wayne Didier, this past April after his kids and wife started taking classes at CFLF. He was worried that existing issues with his feet and knees would make exercise impossible, but with the help of his amazing coach (Shout out to Wayne!!!!) and the support of his family, he has lost almost 40 pounds and accomplished his goal of doing a Father/Son Canoe Trip in Canada this July.  We are so excited to see Ryan continue to get stronger, fitter, faster and better!! Who are you? What do you do when you are not here (job,

school, etc)? Past athletic history.

Life-long resident of the LF/LB community.  I enjoy raising my two sons Timothy and Nicholas here in LF with my wife Jill and our 3 rescue dogs.  I have been blessed to work for Lake Forest Open Lands for over 15 years, where I am their Preservation Programs Director.  As a family we spend a lot of time outdoors in Northern Wisconsin, hiking, biking, skiing/snowshoeing, playing pond hockey and paddling.

 

Why CrossFit?? How did you find CrossFit Lake Forest?

For me CrossFit is about family.  I watched my sons enjoy the classes at their Aunt Andi’s gym last winter, and decided to join this spring.  I had a long challenging canoe trip planned with my sons in July and knew I needed to work on my health to overcome many years of injuries and bad habits.

 

What do you love about CrossFit and CFLF?

I love that every visit is different, and I have been able to overcome some old injuries.  I have benefited from a lot of the nutrition education as well.  CFLF is an inclusive supportive community, and it has been fun making new friends, as well as doing something new together with Jill.

 

Favorite workout? Least favorite?

Probably rowing is my favorite thing, and running my least favorite - but I’ve noticed that things that I didn’t enjoy before become enjoyable eventually as I improve.

 

Goals or things your working on.

Still learning many of the movements, and would like to do more work unbroken and faster.

 

One piece of advice about CrossFit, life, anything!!

It's never too late to work on your health, and I am so appreciative to have found something to share with the whole family that also opens new doors for us to start more adventures.
