Meet Our March Athlete of the Month Nicole Dennis

Meet our March Athlete of the Month, Nicole Dennis!! Nicole might just be one of the most positive and smiley people we have ever met. Being fairly new to CrossFit, she has embraced everything about it and comes into every class eager to learn, quick to support her fellow athletes, and always up for trying new things and pushing herself in each and every workout. We just love Nicole and her fabulous energy!! So let's learn more about this wonderful woman!


Your story. Who are you? What do you do when you are not here (job, school, etc)? Past athletic history.


Hi, I am Nicole Dennis, currently working over at the Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Project as a Construction Engineer. I have never been the "athletic" type, but have always liked to stay active with working out, just never quite figured out what worked best for me until CrossFit. I started CrossFit about six months ago. The other exciting news in my life is that my fiance and I are getting married in May on my 30th birthday :) 




Why CrossFit?? How did you find CrossFit Lake Forest?


Before CrossFit, I was kind of wandering around the gym, trying home workouts, running and taking different gym classes, but was never really very happy with my workouts. After a couple years of getting into running, I was told by my podiatrist that I couldn't run anymore due to bones spurs on my feet.  So it was time to find something else.  I was recommended CrossFit by my Chiropractor for more strength training, and now I wish I found it sooner!



What do you love about CrossFit Lake Forest?


I love that everyone is at their own different fitness level in CrossFit, yet everyone gets to challenge themselves to push to the next level. AND I love the community! It is really a great group of people to workout with - everyone is very positive and supportive of each other. 


Favorite workout? Least favorite?


My favorite workout is anything with dead lifts, it's probably because I'm short and they make me feel strong.  Dead lifts are my favorite!  Least favorite is anything involving a pull up bar.  My upper body strength is still getting developed, but I will get there.



Goals or things your working on.


My main goal is to be the healthiest me I can be, both physically and mentally. CrossFit is a great workout and a great stress reliever for me.   I can definitely tell the difference between the days I can't go versus the days I can.
